"Auguste Escoffier, a humanist"

Temporary Exhibition

Auguste Escoffier became world famous for codifying and modernising French cuisine, giving it international recognition. He rationalised the tasks in the kitchen and worked constantly to improve working conditions.

Beyond this image of the “Chef of kings and King of chefs”, Auguste Escoffier was a humanist and a precursor, as shown by his numerous initiatives in the fields of transmission of knowledge, mutual insurance and old age care, as well as his battle against pauperism.

Although less well known to the general public, his altruism guided his actions throughout his life. This exhibition is entirely dedicated to his social and humanist commitment.
